Weiner Dog Day

Conner thinks that Halloween is called Weiner Dog Day. Meme bought him this book. It is about a little weiner dog named Oscar whose mother has him dress up like a hot dog for Halloween. All of the other dogs make fun of him, but he ends up saving the day! Anyway, Conner has been looking at that book in Judd's car. It stays in there and he reads it every time he rides with Judd. Conner has been talking about "Weiner Dog Day" for a couple of weeks now. He has been asking me if it is "Weiner Dog Day" yet; I could never figure it out. Well, this evening he said that he was going to be a weiner dog for Halloween and it all became clear!

Funday Sunday

We have had some rough weekends lately. The kids are tired and so are we. Friday and Saturday Conner had a really bad nights. He didn't sleep very much and he was extremely foul. Saturday, he had one of his terrible, hysterical meltdowns and I ended up driving him around to get him to fall asleep.
Well, he woke up delightful this morning at 5:30, but I didn't mind. He was soooo sweet and had gotten his much needed rest. He had gone to be at 7:00 the night before.
The weather was brisk and chilly. Conner asked me ALL day if it was Christmas time yet. I kept telling him "not yet." When we were putting on our jackets to go to the park he asked if he could have his mittens and if it was going to snow. He was cracking me up!! One day of a little chilliness in the air and he thinks it is going to snow.

We had a great day. We went to the park and played. The weather was fabulous. We got some burritos from Jumburrito, went home, ate, and ALL took naps. We all needed it.

Both of the kids seemed more rested and happy today. They were so cute and funny. It was a great relief and blessing to to relax and enjoy each other today!!

Conner's 5th Birthday

My baby is 5! I cannot beleive it. It seems like yesterday my 1 pound 14 ounce baby was taken from my body so suddenly, spending the next three months praying that he would be okay. He went through so much, and my little fighter thrived! He is still a little fighter and I remind myself that that quality helped him to survive.
So, we had his birthday party on the 18th. He had so much fun. Toy Story was the theme. I don't think he got anything that wasn't Toy Story. We had a great crowd to celebrate with us. Meme, Aunt Pam, DeeDee, Grandpa, Mimi, Uncle Paul, Aunt Patsy, Uncle Lee, Tia Donna, Megan, Kinsey, Lexi, and Cooper (and of course Belyn) were there.

The quote of the day was, "What does it do?" Conner asked this about all of the presents, includig his poster.

New Conner Art

I'm not sure what exactly this is, but it is a new abstract piece by Conner. He worked on it for a while and what I love is my belt that was the last amazing touch! I haven't taken it down yet. It's like a museum around here. Conner is a hoot!!

Belyn's new DO

Belyn got a haircut on Saturday. She was so good while the lady was cutting her hair. I almost didn't know what to do. With Conner, I am usually calming him down, bribing him with ice cream or candy, and (back in the day) trying to keep him from screaming his lungs out! Belyn just sat there and looked in the mirror. She had a concerned look on her face as she watched the hair fall to the floor, but she was a little angel.

Conner Update

So, a lot has been going on with Conner lately. For starters, he has been accepted into occupational therapy. We were hoping that he would get some needed help with some issues we have noticed in the last 6 months or so. He will start September 22. We will have to take him at 8 AM on Wednesdays and Fridays. That way I can get him back to school before I have to be at work. My conference is 1st period, so this worked out nicely. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, he has speech therapy at the same place. That is at 5 PM. On Wednesdays at 5, he has behavior therapy. On Mondays, we like to let him go to the gymnastics class for the preschoolers. It's at the Permian gym and he really enjoys it. We work our schedules to fit in these appointments for Conner. I know that by next year he will be doing better in these areas and be ready to start kindergarten. We really hope that kindergarten is any easy transition for him.

Well, next on our plate is eye surgery. Judd and I are wanting to schedule his surgery for the week of Thanksgiving, since we have a week off. We have to call the surgery coordinator tomorrow to work it out. I hope this date will work.

Conner had an appointment with Dr. Packwood, our Pediatric Eye Specialist, on Friday. He said the surgery will take about 25-30 minutes. He will be in and out that day. As far as recovery goes- we will have to do eye drops three times a day, but no patch will be necessary. His eye will be red for a while, but hopefully his brain will get the idea that this is the way his eye should be. We pray that additional surgeries will not be necessary. Dr. Packwood said that 3 out of 10 patients with this type of problem will need a second surgery. We will just have to wait and see.

Our future gymnast!

We stayed at Pamela's house Thursday night. We woke up Friday to find part of Pamela's living room ceiling on the floor. NOT FUN!! So, we all got ready and while Judd and I took Conner to his eye appointment, Pamela took Belyn to a butterfly exhibit. Afterwards, while Belyn and Judd were napping, Pamela, Conner, and I went back. It was so much fun. Conner was holding butterflies and loving it. He was so sweet and gentle with them. It was cute!

I took this pic... cool, huh?

Trying to put the butterfly on my nose. Didn't work.
One of many butterflies Conner held.

"Your ceiling is on the floor!" (spoken to Aunt Pam)
"Aunt Pam needs to hurry and clean up her room. It's a mess!" (spoken to Judd and me in the car about Pamela's ceiling problem.)
